'The Art of Toy Story 3'

I know this is about the animators but I feel that it is also very relevant to a technical artist. they need to understand the movement so that they can give rigs the ability to create that movement. Pulling influence from the real world and our own experience is also a great way to work.

“Animators are thieves. I’m going to look at how someone is sitting and carrying himself, or how he agrees or disagrees with me, and I’m going to seal bits and pieces of those behaviours. When I’m animating, I go back to this giant filing cabinet of behaviours I’ve stolen from people over the years...In terms of making Andy convincing as a teenager, some of the artists aren’t much beyond teenagers themselves, so they can pull from their own experience.” Bobby Podesta- Supervising Animator pg67
